چکیده

A recently introduced empirical nucleophilicity index for a series of nand p-nucleophiles was evaluated. The index is based on the frontier molecular orbital information of the nucleophile and its electrophilic partner. The model is validated against kinetic data of alkenes, phosphanes, phosphites and amines interacting with the corresponding electrophilic partner. The predictive character of this index is tested for some nucleophiles.

Nucleophilicity parameters for amines, amino acids and peptides in water. Variations in selectivities for quinone methides.

Second order rate constants for reactions of 4,4'-dimethylaminobenzhydrylium cations with amines and other nucleophiles in water define a scale of nucleophilicity (N(+)'' = log k + 2.63). The N(+)'' scale can be extended by linking directly to an established N(+) scale based on reactions of methyl vinyl pyridinium cations with amine nucleophiles. Logarithms of rate constants for other benzhydry...

Definition of a nucleophilicity scale.

This work deals with exploring some empirical scales of nucleophilicity. We have started evaluating the experimental indices of nucleophilicity proposed by Legon and Millen on the basis of the measure of the force constants derived from vibrational frequencies using a probe dipole H-X (X = F,CN). The correlation among some theoretical parameters with this experimental scale has been evaluated. ...

A quantitative approach to nucleophilic organocatalysis

The key steps in most organocatalytic cyclizations are the reactions of electrophiles with nucleophiles. Their rates can be calculated by the linear free-energy relationship log k(20 °C) = s(N)(E + N), where electrophiles are characterized by one parameter (E) and nucleophiles are characterized by the solvent-dependent nucleophilicity (N) and sensitivity (s(N)) parameters.Electrophilicity param...

The influence of acceptor nucleophilicity on the glycosylation reaction mechanism.

A set of model nucleophiles of gradually changing nucleophilicity is used to probe the glycosylation reaction mechanism. Glycosylations of ethanol-based acceptors, bearing varying amounts of fluorine atoms, report on the dependency of the stereochemistry in condensation reactions on the nucleophilicity of the acceptor. Three different glycosylation systems were scrutinized, that differ in the r...

Nucleophilic Reactivities of Schiff Bases

Dedicated to Professor Heinrich Nöth on the occasion of his 85th birthday The nucleophile-specific parameters N and sN, as defined by the linear free energy relationship log k = sN(N +E) (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2001, 123, 9500 – 9512), were determined for five imines 1a–e by studying the kinetics of their reactions with benzhydrylium ions in dichloromethane solution at 20 ◦C. These parameters allowe...
